First, I really love your Beer News posts. I think every one has included at least one item I wasn't familiar with.

And second, the letter by one of the brewmasters at A-B reminded me why I'm impressed by their operation. I've heard other A-B brewmasters speak and they always make me feel better about their operation. Sure, the "American Lager" style is somewhat generic and bland (or you could say delicate and balanced), but from the brewing perspective what they're pulling off is very impressive. It's unfortunate that in our country the Light beer reigns supreme, but a global brewer like A-B is always going to brew what sells. You can't pin the responsibility of changing the country's tastes on A-B because even though they're a brewer, they're a huge business and making money isn't an option. I'm just glad they venture out with their Michelob line and other attempts at craft beer.

Rodney,

Thanks for the kind words - glad you're enjoying them (and sorry I haven't had any in a few days). I absolutely agree - what AB is able to do is very impressive. Also, the first rule in business is to never fight what the market wants - they deliver what the majority of folks are used to/want. Great points!
